The Bay Area captured 45% of U.S. seed funding dollars in 2025

Crunchbase reports that the Bay Area received 45% of U.S. seed funding dollars in 2025, up from 33% in 2024 and 28% in 2023. Its analysis identifies heavy investment in locally headquartered AI startups as a driver of that concentration.

The same analysis puts the region at roughly one-third of U.S. seed rounds, up five percentage points from 2024.

In the World Economic Forum’s Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2026, 94% of survey respondents identified AI as the most significant driver of cybersecurity change in the year ahead. The report describes AI strengthening defenses while enabling more sophisticated attacks.

A May 2026 follow-up documents 20 real-world case studies. Among its examples, IBM’s ATOM platform reportedly automated more than 850 analyst hours a month and reduced end-to-end investigation time by 37%.

Transportation and logistics robot sales grew 14% to 102,900 units in 2024

The International Federation of Robotics reports 102,900 transportation and logistics robots sold in 2024, up 14%. The category primarily covers mobile robots that transport and handle goods.

In May 2025, DHL and Boston Dynamics announced an agreement paving the way for more than 1,000 additional Stretch robots. Existing deployments had achieved unloading rates of up to 700 cases per hour.

AI demand also extends to design and construction: Autodesk’s July 2026 AI Jobs Report says AI hiring across Design and Make industries more than doubled. Its coverage includes architecture, engineering, construction, product design, manufacturing, media, and entertainment.
